Maya drizzle

Maya B has OAD (Obsessive Anal Disorder).

She does the usual doggy behavior of licking, you know. And then there's the scooting. More often it's twirling. Which is a whole bunch funnier to watch than scooting. Unless it's on the carpet. (twirl twirl)

A lot. She does this a lot. I wonder if she's got something wrong with her. She seems so. . . preoccupied. Like all she can think about is her bum. (scoot scoot)

BH: Worms? Could it be worms?

Maybe worms. Could be worms. She gets de-wormed every year. How often do you de-worm your dog? (lick lick lick)

BH: Itchy butt? Maybe she has crusty butt.

Or anal glands are full. Either way the groomer should be able to fix that. I take her in and she is clean and trim again.

(twirl twirl, scoot scoot)

The grooming doesn't seem to have help.

And on the way to the OC, she's fidgety. Trying to scratch that itch on my pants. Leaving little potato prints on my pants. NICE!

***sigh***

I love my dog.

Happy Halloween Toes

I've painted my toes for Halloween! See! For some reason blogger has again posted my pic sideways. Why? Why does it do that? Why can't I fix it?

Any way in case you can't tell the white nail is a mummy.

Sorry about the hairy toes.

And this is Maya B.

Maya has this thing about balls. She loves them. Like really really loves them. She does this very odd and sometimes nasty thing. I couldn't get a better pic so I'll explain. The yellow thing is the ball. That is one leg and part of her tail over the ball. Her head and front leg is up and left. What she does is climb on them and then gets stuck, on top of the ball. She doesn't really get stuck but it looks that way and sometimes all four feet don't touch the ground. It's very comical to watch. She gets a little embarrassed by this if I laugh hysterically, which I must, and she hops off and ignores the ball.

Happy Tuesday!

It is not a happy Tuesday but I need to psych myself up for the next couple weeks.

It's not an unhappy Tuesday for any real reason. I've just got a lot of things happening.

I was off work yesterday. HAPPY CANADIAN THANSGIVING EVERYONE!

My moms in Canada, celebrating T-day with rele's.

I work today and I've got lots do do and one day to do it in. Tomorrow I go to the doctor for all the presurgery stuff. Thursday I am taking my Real Estate license exam.

So I studied my butt off this weekend. (I should be able to fit in 'those jeans' by the end of the week)

Friday I'll work again. I need to put Tom and Mo Slowski to bed. It's getting cold and they are slowing down. Then I think I'll bring Maya B to my home. To live! With us!

Who's Maya B?

My dog from my previous life.

No, not Frank the pug darn it. He's a daddy's boy and it wouldn't be right to take him.

Maya B is a Chihuahua mix that I rescued. I really don't know what she is and no one seems to have an answer. I only have one pic of her. She moves an awful lot and it's hard to get a good picture of her. She is not a camera hound like Frank who will stop and wait for the shutter noise before he moves again.

This is the best I can do right now.

Bringing her here will be interesting. I've some things to get before I can bring her. Little things like food. I need to replace all her toys as they may not get to come with her. She'll need a new blanket. Again because I don't know what I'll be allowed to bring. I hope that I'll get to keep her kennel and harness and leash. If not I'll need to get new ones. She needs to be groomed as no one has done anything with her. It's a little cold here so I'll get her a new sweater. I had made some but I don't know where they are anymore and all my patterns have mysteriously disappeared.

OK, I'm off to get ready for work.

Happy Tuesday!

Baby Suri

Today it appears that I am not capable of an original thought. I had to borrow this from Bam Bams blog.

I laughed my butt off.

It is 6:00 am and I am quietly trying to read my fav blogs while BH enjoys a precious hour of sleep without me crowding him to the far inches of the bed.

I have to admit, she is the cutest baby I have seen in a long time.

Way to go TomKat! Congrats!

IN OTHER NEWS:

I am deeply saddended by the news of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwins death. My boys and I watched the Croc Hunter for years and we just loved him to pieces. I picked up a few photos that remind me of who he was and what he meant to me.
Cuddling a croc. Who does that? Honestly! Crocs are not warm, fuzzy and smoochable. Steve finds them so. That is what is endearing about him.

His beautiful American wife Terry. She is the mirror image of him. Feminine yet down and dirty with the crocs just like her beloved husband.
Terry, Steve and their daughter Bindi. Bindi? I guess you have to be an Aussie to understand. Any thoughts AM?
Steve and Bob. Bob?
I saw the footage on this. Hilarious. Steve was highly criticized for this little antic. Endangering his young son. After he feeds the croc he puts Bob on the ground and 'walks' him over to the crowd. I loved it.

Endangering? You know, as Americans we are hyper sensitive to safety. When we see someone doing something potentially dangerous we make a bunch of noise. I understand it's not like that in Australia. He dearly loves his children and would never do anything to endanger their lives. However, how he lives would be just plain dangerous to most of us.

On one of our morning shows Kelli Rippa talked of spending a day with the Irwins. Kelli has a young son about Bindi's age and they like each other. As they were walking Bindi pulls a snake out her pocket so Killi's son can hold it. You see? Bindi is her fathers and mothers daughter. No doubt Bob will be too.

Steve, you will be missed by many.

My prayers go out to your beloved family at this difficult time.

Charlie

My parents came over Saturday. Their little dog Charlie needed his yearly shots. We have a very cheep shot clinic here so every year we pack up the dogs and head on out to the clinic.
Charlie is a very very well behaved Shi Tzu about 2 years old.

I don't know why this photo turned out blurry. It seemed fine on the camera. He just got a hair cut.

Here he is checking out the bunnies in the yard. You know he doesn't have things like that where he lives. Isn't that cute how he picked the center of that round rug to sit?

Nicknames. . .

Charles, Charlie Man and Char Bud.

Last week my brother came out from Arizona. Phoenix area that is. I think it's hot here, he says.

Last Easter we took a trip out to see BH's family and we went to see my bro then. This is what he looked like.

He works with circuit boards and it seems that a business hair cut is not needed.

Since then he has been applying for a new job. Hair cut needed.

Better yes?

Yes he got the new job. He starts this comming week.

Powderpuffs

Every week I look through the Pennysaver to see how many pugs are for sale. This week I saw an ad for Chinese Crested Powderpuff puppies. What is a Powderpuff dog? Never heard of it before so I Googled it. At first I read that they are in the toy class. Small, about 12 inches and weighing in at about 10 pounds. I thought, 10 pounds, 12 inches. Small dog. Carry it around with me, small poopies, Maybe I should consider another breed. Then I saw the picture.

And read that some are hairless.
I'm sure that someone loves these dogs dearly.
First cousin to the Budweiser horses?
I think I'll stick to the 40 pound, flat nosed, wrinkled, smelly, shedding pug. I'll bet these dogs don't even snore.

Cat burgular *Day 9

STEALTH PUG
No show and tell for me today. I used to have chickens and went by their new home, the local dairy, but couldn't tell which ones were mine. I had 5 altogether, 2 Aracana's, 1 brown leghorn, 1 black Australorp and a little silky. I miss them.

I went to the doctor today. You know, THE DOCTOR. The yearly stuff. She is just so nice and makes things so pleasant that I hate to complain about it. I won't say I enjoyed the visit but it wasn't so bad and I'm glad I got it out of the way. Now I need to go to the breast center to check on the lumpy stuff, I take my bloodwork tomorrow and I'll be set for the year. Woohoo.

Day 9
I think I'm going to quit the patch. I crave smoking every dang day so I don't know how helpful it is. I've decided I've come this far so I'm not going back.

I did get chocolate yesterday. I was moaning to our maintenance man about how I wanted chocolate. While out on his errands he picked up this huge 1/2 pound Hershey with almonds. I love him. It's gone now.

I got this off of Owned by Pugs and thought it was such a cute story. If you didn't read it there you can read it here.

PELHAM, N.Y. -- A pink-and-white gardening glove has gone missing from another porch in Pelham, N.Y. But there was no mystery about who took it. Willy, the cat who loves gloves, has struck again. The feline felon has carried off at least two dozen gardening gloves since April. The gloves are on a clothesline that's strung across the front fence at Willy's home, which he shares with Jennifer and Dan Pifer. Above the line is a sign that says "Our cat is a glove snatcher. Please take these if yours."

Nine pairs of gardening gloves and five singles are strung up.

Jennifer Pifer said Willie brings the gloves home, proud as can be, and leaves them on the front porch as a gift. She figures "it's better than if he was bringing home dead birds."

In winter, Willy doesn't become a mitten kitten. His off-season prey is dirty socks, which he carries off from the family's laundry room.

My little Maya Bee is much like that cat. She just loves socks and undies. Where ever she finds them she will drag them under the bed. When I would do laundry I have to clean out her stash under the bed. Then when I was folding the whites she would be on the bed dragging off as many whites as she can.

The whole world stinks! Day 8

And Alan is such a catch himself.

Did you notice they have no chins? Why?

The entire wold stinks. It does. I don't know why. I walked into the house yesterday. It smells funny. I went into the bedroom to change. It smells in there. My bathroom, yes, it smells. Every stinkin room stinks. Why? Why?

I quit smoking and everything is suppose to taste better. It doesn't. I just feel the need to eat. A lot. Often. You're sense of smell is suppose to improve. Is that it? Did I not realize how much everything stinks before? No, it doesn't smell like smoke, except in my car. I'll rant on that later. I have never smoked in the house. It just stinks, a little, like old socks or something. I can't identify it. I need to do something about it. I am thinking of mixing some baking soda with some of those carpet cologne powders and sprinkling it on the carpet, maybe some Fabreeze on the furniture. Potpourri is next. In every stinkin room. Maybe a nice vanilla or apple. Maybe something floral. Ooh, maybe something tropical.

And my car! Here's the rant. It totally reeks! OMG! I spent 2 hours the other day cleaning it out. Cleaning the inside windows, dash etc. Getting all the ash out of every little corner. I sprayed it down with fabreeze and it is much better. I could spray it down again and maybe a nice car cologne freshener thing. I hate the little tree thing so I need to find something that will work and not look dorky.

And the diet. Not to bad. I've not lost weight but I haven't gained either. Still if I have to choose between a smoke and a Suzie Q I will risk a few pounds rather than start smoking again.

Pug Accessories

I am insanely busy at work today but I had to share my pug accessories with yall.

I got the purse from my parents and the wallet from my son. The purse is awful. Darn cute but hugely impractical. It is a bucket type purse but it tips easily and dumps contents. Yes it has a zipper closure, as I said, impractical.

The wallet is the bomb. I love it but. . . Problem number 1. It is large and lately I've been switching to a smaller purse, add phone and camera then there is no room for any thing else. Problem number 2. I've worn the wallet out. It is still very cute and usable and I will keep it and possibly use it again but it has seen better days. Need new wallet.

Meet new wallet.
Adorable, yes?

Got it here.
http://www.pugpress.com/pug_purses.htm

I sent a check and I got it very quickly. Good service. Cute pug stuff. Go! Shop! Now!

Cesar's Way

I was trolling through Wally World the other day and caught Cesar's Way book on the end cap. I have seen his show and I really loved the way he worked magic on the problem dogs. I had to buy it.

EVERY, EVERY dog owner must read this book. If I didn't need to work, eat or sleep I would have finished it but I grab it every chance I get and read it.

Gotta read it. Really is an eye opener for me.

Now I think I want to buy the first season on DVD. Yep I think I do.

Show and Tell Thursday. . . . ?

Well Shoot. Somehow I missed the whole show and tell post on Tuesday. I really enjoy the show and tell. This week however it was on houseplants and since I don't own a single houseplant I don't feel to bad about missing out. Soooo, if someone could share with me how I missed the boat on this one, please let me know. I have so few pleasures in life.

We all know how much dogs love music.

So no show and tell, not to worry, I have plenty to share.

Tuesday I had a little eye surgery. Not a big ordeal. I had a little mole growing over my tear duct that had to be removed. It didn't bother me as much as the doctor but nevertheless. So I have to be in La Jolla at 8:45am. This is about a 2 hour drive with traffic. The traffic wasn't so awful. We get there and the air conditioner is broken so we have to reschedule. BH says that we can go to San Diego since we are there and have coffee or whatever. Just as we get to San Diego they call us back and tell us we can do the surgery in the office.

We head back and I get my little procedure done. It's not a big deal. He puts a few numbing drops in my eyes and then he sticks a needle in my lid and shoots in a bunch of novacane. This sounds much more painful then it really was. It stung a bit but after having 3 kids I can't say it was awful. He slices off the mole, I don't feel a thing, and I go home.

Here is the hysterical part. My left eye is numb. Totally numb. Like your lip gets at the dentist. My eyelid won't close. I blink and blink and try to close the eye. Nothing. One of the drops he gives me dilates my pupil. So I have this eye, that I can't close and the pupil is totally blown. I look in the mirror and laugh myself silly. It is very creepy to blink and see that eye, with the huge pupil, staring back at you. BH laughed. He called it my Columbo look. (in case you're wondering, I am a huge Columbo fan and Peter Falk has a glass eye.) It didn't last long.

Civil War Weekend and Mom I blew up the dog

Oh my goodness, I have so much to tell.

First I'll start with Friday. Friday was an interesting day all around. I had planned a lunch with my boys but first my #1 son calls and says that Bosco had a little accident. Here's the conversation.

#1 son: He's ok but a tennis ball exploded in his face and he is a little singed.

Hysterical mom: WHAT DO YOU MEAN A TENNIS BALL EXPLODED!?

#1 son: Well Barbie (#2 sons girlfriend), Dave (#2 son) and Mike (#3 son) made a bomb out of a tennis ball and Bosco found it and tried to play with it and it blew up.

Hysterical mom: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU MADE A BOMB OUT OF A TENNIS BALL!? HOW DO YOU MAKE A BOMB OUT OF A TENNIS BALL!?

This is where #1 son tells me how to make a bomb out of a tennis ball and I will NOT share it here because it is stupid, dangerous and probebly illegal.

Hysterical mom: WHY DID THEY LEAVE IT AROUND!? DON'T THEY KNOW HOW MUCH BOSCO LOVES TENNIS BALLS!?

#1 son: Yes but they put it on the table and Bosco found it.

Not screeming anymore mom: Don't they know Bosco has no problem getting anything off the table?

#1 son: I don't know but Boz is a little hurt so maybe you could look at it.

So I husstle off to the house to find a burned and singed doggie. Want to see his owie?

This is really the worst of it. It does not appear to be too deep but it will need to be cleaned and watched. No vet necessary at this time.

In this picture you can see his singed chest hairs.
Also he has no whiskers.
I couldn't get a pic of that. He was a little freaked out. He doesn't limp but it is sore.

I did have lunch later in the afternoon with #2, girlfriend and #3 son. It was rather late by the time we could get together. My boys called it Linner. Lunch/dinner. I'm sure I heard this on a commercial.

Ok so now the Civil War. How very awsome. While an enactment was going off my phone rang. I think it rang, if it hadn't buzzed I never would have heard it. It's the office so I yell,"I'm in the middle of the Civil War you have to speak up." I think I don't hear anything so I yell, "Can you hear me?" Oh yes, she hears me. She tells me today that she thinks I have either discovered a time machine or I need to up my meds.

They have a lot of little tents all around. They all look the same. There is a tent part where they sleep the night and then an awning part where they entertain. One gal called it her parlor. Cute. So I am looking in this one tent and I see an old sewing machine. Looks a lot like my treadle. So I take a good look and it's not. It's a hand crank! Ewwwww, I want one! So BH is trying to get my attention but I'm in the middle of an important conversation with owner of hand crank so I ignore him and then BOOM. A canon goes off, then another, then another! HOLY COW! I throw my arms up and screem (who could hear?) and almost hit the dirt. Oh my goodness. I wasn't all that close and I felt like all the air was being sucked out of me. I run out and look for BH who is nowhere to be found. OH MY GOD! A canon goes off and he totally leaves me. He sees me spinning in circles trying to find him, he thinks it's me, he has never seen my face in complete panic before but he recognizes the clothes. "Babe I was trying to warn you that the canon's were about to go off." No. No he didn't. He could have yelled "Canon's about to go off" or something to that effect, not "Babe? Babe?" That could mean anything, I'm bored lets move on, I'm going to get a beer, pee, whatever. How was I to know it meant CANON'S GOING OFF. Lord have mercy.

The entire valley looked like this.

This gentleman had a ear phone hearing aide. Very very cool. If you look close you can see it. We had lunch at the table next to him and his precious wife.

Then I happen to catch President Lincoln strolling about before his speech. And here he is delivering his speech.
I was able to sidetrack the very important President for a snapshot.

This is The Mary Todd Lincoln. Now this is an interesting story. She is a 4th generation from Todd or a 4th cousin of Ms. Todd Lincoln. I forget the whole story. She had some black lace with sequins that came from one of Mary's dresses. She is the same height (5'2) and weight (didn't ask) as Mary. She also volunteered that she shares some of the same aliments of the first lady. I didn't ask that either. She was a bit of a chatterbug and I was ready to move on.

This is a friend of ours who is always at these reenactments. This weekend he played Jefferson Davis. I think that was what he said. We sat in his parlor with his lovely wife and chatted for a bit.

In the parlor of the Executive Mansion (as the White House was known then) with Jefferson Davis and wife. Yep that is a Miller High Life Beer and salt water taffy. On the table behind is Rebel Yell Whisky. I understand that Rebel Yell was made back then. Not too sure about the Millers.

John Twoshirts

This fine gentleman sat with us in the Davis's parlor. He called himself John Twoshirts. I have never heard of him. We called him John Twopants, Nopants, Pantshirts, everything but Twoshirts. He was a very nice man but looked more like Colonel Sanders to me.

Frank says hello

Frank says hello

Frank says hello

I went to visit Frank and he was so excited, he talked and talked. Boy is he a chatty little boy. After he settled down a bit I was able to talk to him.

He listened patiently.
Snorted.
Then wiped his pug buggers all over me.
His wrinkles smell and he needs a bath, but other than that he was just fine.

This is Bosco. He is a Pit/Lab/Sharpei mix.

He is a really great dog and a super watch dog. He is huge and has this ferocious bark and growl. Little does anyone know that he is a huge weenie. Several times we have scared him so bad that he screams (yes screams) like a girl, and pees himself (also like a girl). Someone dropped him over our back wall when he was about 3 months old and we decided to keep him.

This is Maya B. Aka Maya the Bee.You really can't tell what she looks like here. Anyone remember that dorky cartoon? My sons loved it. We watched it over and over and over. Yes, I know all the words to the song. I’ll share it later for you. She is a long hair Chihuahua mix and is a rescue literally from the back yard of someone we know. They moved but kept the house, didn’t take the dog and forgot about her much of the time. I begged them to let me have her and they said sure, I would have anyway. They fed her nothing but hot dogs and lunch meat when they remembered to feed her. Poor thing is missing teeth from bad nutrition and has horrid breath.

And Butch is still gone. Hope he is ok.
