*THANKFUL* Thirteen

I am Thankful for long lasting lipstick!

No really, I am!

I did not wear much makeup as a stay at home mommy. Ok I did not wear any makeup as a stay at home mommy. I was lucky to get both legs shaved at the same time.

Now that I work full time and my face is older (how does the outside age before the inside?) I needed some make up.

I was very disappointed by the stuff I was getting at Walmart. (where else do you get make up?) Then I met this lady that worked at a beauty supply shop that sold Bare Essentials. I'd seen the commercials, so I hussled on down there and tried it. I love it! It's pricy to begin with but I've had it for 2 years and I'm just now replacing the foundation. I still have oodles of the blush, finishing powder and shadow. I rarely wear mascara, I have it but I'm too lazy to take it off. Then there's the lipstick.

My sons girlfriend wear MAC. She swears by it and never wears anything else. Know how much that stuff is? $20.00! For a tube of lipstick! $20.00! I'm sure it's wonderful stuff but I'm not paying 20 bucks for a tube of lipstick. Still I need to wear lipstick because my lips, something happened to my lips, they are faded and dry. So Wet N Wild, 99 cents, that works for me. I can buy 20 different shades if I want. In our retched heat many times my lipstick becomes unusable blobs in my purse. For 99 cents I don't get too worked up over that. But it wears off quickly. I find myself reapplying it constantly. Or not because I am lazy.

Then a girlfriend told me about long lasting lipstick. I've seen the commercials but they are like 10 bucks for a tube and I don't know, you know, will it work? Will I hate the color and be out 10 bucks?

I am lazy and cheep.

I decide to try it.

I love it!

I found 2 colors that I love. It comes in a lip gloss type tube. (I guess you can't take this on the plane) It won't melt in my car. I apply it once in the morning, sometimes later in the afternoon. It's wonderful! And Wally World had it for under 8 bucks!

It's weird if you've never tried it. You apply the color and then it dries sticky and kind of yucky. Then you put on the clear top coat that comes with it and you're good to go. Sometimes I apply a little more top coat during the day as my lips get dry.

So if you've never tried long lasting lipstick, give it a try!

No I am not running out of things to be thankful for.

I am Thankful for my job!

I was a mommy housewife for over 20 years. I loved that and never thought I'd want to go back to work. In fact I did not want to go to work but financially I needed to. I found several part time jobs close to home. At first I worked for a post office type place, like Mail Boxes etc, but not. Almost a year there. Then the dear owner sold and the new owners were not. Dear that is. So a few doors down is this coffee shop, like a Starbucks with food. Ice cream too! I worked there for several months until the owner folded. Not able to pay the bills or me he struggled to sell it, and did.

While there I began talking with another shop owner. He would come in for coffee every morning. He had a bookkeeper that was giving him trouble. She had a lot of problems and would not show up for work, she finally quit altogether. I told him that this ship was sinking and that I had worked as a bookkeeper before I had kids, maybe I could help him out.

When the coffee shop died I began working at the real estate office, as a bookkeeper for his property management.

I really really love it. So much so that I have gone on to become a real estate sales agent.

Do I miss being a stay at home mommy?

Yes I do. I still would love to stay home, cook more, quilt more, have more dogs.

But I really love this job. I'm happy.

*THANKFUL* eleven

I am Thankful for Lake Elsinore!

When I was a little girl we used to come here to camp at the lake. I would sleep in a lounge chair and look up at the stars and wish that someday I could live here.

We would come over the Ortega Mountains with our camper and sometimes a boat in tow. The road was windey and a little scary but I would wait for the chance to see the lake from up high. Then I knew we were almost there.

Now I live here and it felt like home from the first. It was a much smaller town 15 years ago. Everyone knows everyone. There was only 1 grocery store on this side of the lake then and you could never get in or out without visiting with a friend. We've really grown since then but I still love it here. I often take a little extra time so I can take the road where I can see the lake. Birds stop here in the winter on the way south and in the summer on the way north. Some birds stay all year.

I think it's beautiful here.

It's home.

I am Thankful for my surgery!

My boob job! Dr. 'C' did such a great job! My left looks just like my right. There are no holes or dents. The scar is hidden strategically, if you know what I mean. The lymph scar looks like a smile and is far enough down that even with a tank you will not notice it. Every doctor that has seen it since has said the same thing. I didn't think it would matter so much to me but now that it is done and healing up I am very happy with the results.

Not to mention the evil 'alien' is out now.

Thank you Dr. 'C'! You are a wonderful woman and a fantastic surgeon.

I am Thankful for BH's family. All of them.

They are such warm caring people. Of course they are! He is part of them.

He is close to his family. He talks often to his mother. Checks up on his siblings from time to time and is constantly calling his sons.

Having such a wonderful family keeps you grounded. It's what life is about. It's the real deal.

And they like me!

I know, what's not to like. But they do!

BH's mother sent me this wonderful card yesterday. She lives in Arizona. Since she has heard about my 'condition' she has been concerned about me. I am in her prayers. She is a Godly woman and very dear to me.

All of his sons and their wives call frequently to check up on me.

I enjoy their company and am blessed to be apart of their family.

I am Thankful for mammograms.

Yes I am!

I know they are uncomfortable and sometimes painful. I hate all kinds of medical procedures too.

Mammograms are a lifesaver. My tumers are so small I could not feel them. If not for mammos my cancer would be a lot worse before I would detect it.

So ladies, go get your mammos done. And be thankful!

*THANKFUL* seven

I am Thankful to be an American.

I was not born here in the US of A. I feel as though I have. I was born in Canada and came here when I was 4. I was schooled here and we've lived in So. Cal the whole time. I do not remember anything else.

Even though we were eligible for citizenship for many years we just never did. My mom does not read English well and they worried about that. About 10 years ago we all applied together. And officially became American Citizens.

I've only missed 1 election in all those years. I study the ballot and encourage everyone to vote.

Our great country has many problems. Every country does. It is still a great country. I'll never live anywhere else. I love MY country. God Bless the USA!

Now go out and vote!

*THANKFUL* six

I am Thankful that I live in Southern California!

I say So Cal because Northern California has much different weather. It could almost be a state unto itself.

I have lived here most of my life. Mostly in the OC (Orange County) but for the last 15 years I have lived in neighboring Riverside County.

OC is about 10* cooler or hotter than where I live yet it is only 45 min away. The summers get hot, real hot, triple digits for much of the summer. And this summer was a scorcher. I love the heat for the most part. It occasionally get humid but generally it is a dry heat. I am always thankful when fall comes and cools our days. The winters can be cold, very cold. (you know, whiny So Cal cold) We frequently get frost in the winter and year before last we had snow all over our hills. It didn't last but there it was in all it's glory.

I enjoy gardening and I like being able to plant something all year round. In OC I could grow a winter veggie garden but here it gets too cold. No matter, I use the winter to plant bulbs and spring flowers, clean up those areas I'm not happy with and just putter.

I love sweaters and have a little collection of them. It's about all I need here. From time to time a heavier jacket is required but not often and only when we will be at an outside activity. I wear sleeveless all year round and almost all of my shoes are sandle types. (I like to see my toe polish)

Winter is rainy season. We can get a fair amount of it. Last year we beat our record. Still it never rains as much as say, Oregon or Washington. Not even close. We complain about it though. We SoCalers don't like to get wet. And we cannot figure out how to drive in the stuff. Unless of course a street is flooded and then everyone believes that their car will transform into a boat.

I am Thankful for the mild climate that we have compared to other parts of our country. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

*THANKFUL* five

I am Thankful for my parents.

I still have them. Both of them. They are in their 70's now God bless them and married to each other after all these 47 years.

They are in very good health for their age. They don't have any diseases like diabetes. Or cancer, like their goofy daughter. They have old aches and pains I'm sure but they don't complain. They travel whenever they can.

They are good people, immigrants, he from Germany and she from Canada. They are old fashioned, I like to say they are from the Old Country. Where papa comes home from a hard day and momma's been home all day acookin and acleanin. She waits on him hand and foot. They are decent hard working people. I love them very much.

I pray they have many more years ahead of them.

*THANKFUL* four

I am Thankful for my dog.

Maya B

No she is not a pug. We do not really know what she is.

She is a high strung poochie. Wiggles constantly. Doesn't bark much. Very sweet and cuddly. Has quirky habits like stealing socks.

I love her. Having a dog in the house is a comfort for me. They are always happy. They are thrilled to see you no matter how long you've been gone. They bring an engergy into a home, life. Simple life. They don't worry about your paycheck or taxes. They don't mind if you put on a few or a lot of pounds. They don't notice if you haven't showered or brushed your teeth. They live for the moment. And every moment is the only moment that matters.

A tiny 10 lb bundle of love.

I forget about the tough things of life when I cuddle my furry little girl.

*THANKFUL* three

I am Thankful for my home.

I love my home.

It's not huge. Who wants to clean a huge house?

It's not fancy. What is fancy?

It's cozy, filled with love, BH and now a dog. What more do you really need?

It's quiet usually. We don't have any real neighbors. Every window has a beautiful view. It's an older home that was designed and built by someone BH knows. It's not fussy. You can come in and put your feet up.

It is a very healing place for me. I've worked through some diffecult things here. I feel safe. Loved. I enjoy who I am. The minute I enter the long driveway I feel happy. I'm home. I feel good again.

*THANKFUL* two

I am thankful for BH.

He is the most kind, gentle and loving man I've ever met. He's open and honest. He loves me with all his heart. He tells me so all day, every day. He worries about me, protects me, takes care of me. He has not left my side since my whole medical ordeal started. I cannot imagine my life without him.

I love you baby! With all my heart.

Be sure to check out Pug Possessed. She is doing a 30 day of Thanks, pug style!

*THANKFUL* one

I am a thankful one!

It's time people. It's what you've been waiting for. NaBloPoMo This is National Blog Posting Month. The month where you write something to your blog every day. EVERY DAY! No matter how silly and meaningless. You can to to Fussy to get more information. But it's not complicated really, just write something, every day. My month is looking to be action packed but I really want to do this. So, here goes.

30 days of Thanksgiving

A tradition I've had for many years. I always make a list of the things I am thankful for. As soon as the boys could speak I would have them tell me things they were thankful for. Then we'd read them at the table on T-day. It's a special time for me.

I thankful for my children.

I love them with all my heart. They are my joy. My peace. My babies are fine young men now. They are kind, gentle and loving. They make good decisions (most of the time) and I'm so proud of all of them.

NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month is set for November. The goal is to write something in your blog, every day. No matter how small and insignificant or boring. I think it's a great idea. I always plan to blog everyday. Sometimes I can't or don't. And I think that knowing that I've committed to writing everyday will make it more of a challenge. Like, 'I have to'. What if I get bored or hate it? What then?

Some bloggers are coming up with themes or a list.

I think that I will write one thing that I am thankful for each day for the month of November. I always write a thankful list every Thanksgiving. For years I had the boys write a list of 5 things they are thankful for and we read them at the table. Sometimes I put the cards in a basket and leave it where everyone can see all the things we are thankful for. It was a great idea for the kids to focus on the important things in life.

Here is a list from Dinky.
