Elsinore Airstrip

Have you been following my tweets? Yes?
Rest assured that I've been seeing your comments.

And I'm quite sure I'm having a great time. After all, I'll be there! And who wants to be a drag? Huh? No, not me. Not whilst I'm around

I'm packing up to go home now.
Love ya! See you on the 1st. Wow! The first already! Where does the time go?

*******

All these many years I've lived here I've never known that our airstrip was called McConville Airstrip airport. It is privately owned by a man in Winnemucca Nevada. Huh! Who knew? (Winnemucca?)

Why it is called an airport at all is a wonder. It's a dirt runway. That's it. We have a few planes parked here. Some vintage ones, some private ones. Mostly there are two jump planes that use the strip. It is quite well known in our area for skydiving. People come from all over to jump here. It is beautiful for one but we also have a unique air pattern due to the Ortega mountains and the ocean just on the other side. Frequently our skies are full of jumpers and para gliders and the like. It's something to see people jump off the mountain and eventually land just inches from the highway.

Recently we have a group that gives glider plane rides here at the airstrip.

This is the tow plane
The tow plane taxis off to get the glider
The glider plane
Time to go
Did I mention the dirt runway?
(cough cough) Are we there yet?
Lift off!!!!

Up up and away!!!

And do you think BH wants to pilot the glider plane?

Oh course he does!

Thankfully my plane WILL NOT be using dirt runways.
