No it is not a stick. It is a bell pepper plant. Stripped of all it's leaves. All but one. This sort of happened overnight. Upon closer inspection I found these.

NOTE: The bell pepper stick recovered and produced the most beautiful purple bells I've ever seen. They were to small to pick and eat so I just enjoyed them on the vine until they withered and died. It was a happy death.
