What we do is pick a craft of some kind to make. If there are a dozen women particpating, you make 12. Everyone gets one of what you make, you get one of theirs, you get the picture. Anywho, there are 17 of us in this group. SEVENTEEN!! We started out at 12. That was manageble. But SEVENTEEN!
Now for me I have to keep the craft simple. I used to cut my own wood. Really! I do know how to use a powertool without losing a digit. But I don't have the time or the tools anymore.
Homemade soap! She sells locally and I love her soap. It's in my soap dish looking lovely and smelling pretty.
A flag, with a homemade Uncle Sam pin.
A Home Sweet Home sign for my front door.
A quilted hot pad, very Eastery. A holder for my sewing scizzors, very Fall.
Jelly Beans in a cupcake container. Now this is cute but the beans were old, like way old, like spit them out immediatly old. The gal that made this (bless her heart) is not very crafty but we love her and she gets invited every time. Her 'homemade' craft is always questionable.
I love this! A huge wooden clothspin, painted Americana. I'm using it on my desk to hold my boys Christmas pic. 4th of July, Christmas, it's all good.
This is a cloth reversable bowl that BH is modeling on his head, because he's funny that way. It's lovely don't you think? The bowl I mean.
This was another of my favorite gifts. That little jar is scented body salt scrub. The scent is something like pachouli and I love to scrape off the first four layers of my skin. This leaves your skin feeling sooooo soft. Heaven!
A little metal star to hang. I haven't figured out what to do with it yet. Maybe I'll use it for a tree ornie.
Magnetic pot holder that holds a pad of paper and a pen for the fridge. Very handy.
I made these. The pics didn't turn out. They are little bird houses. I should say I painted them. Some little person in Taiwan made them.
This is whisteria painted on it. On the reverse of the house is written, 'Home tweet home' and on others 'Tweet dreams' Korny but cute. They were a hit.
It's a drag the pic is so bad. I didn't realize how bad till I posted today. I'll have to take more pics. I'm pretty proud of this work. They look good.
A homemade card with wine bottle and wine glass charms.
This was another favorite. A vintage plate. It's small like a saucer.
A short glass candlestick holder is hotglued to the bottom. This is so pretty. I use it all the time. You'll notice it in my food pics.
A couple of handpainted cards. Rose always does the most wonderful crafts, she puts a lot of time and effort into her projects. She said she learned a lot making these. They were a pain.
This handpainted bucket is so so cute. I haven't figured out what to do with it yet. Two little candles.
Some updates:
I got Netflix! I know I'm such a dork because everyone has had it for years, but I didn't. There are so many movies I haven't seen and Netflix was giving a free trial and did you know you can rent all your favorite TV shows? Yes! More on this another time.
I know I need to post some pics of my quilts, I have many. Many I tell you, in all stages of development. I am also expecting another niece/nephew early next year so another new one will have to be made.
No, I never got the $2,600 ring. To be honest, I'm a simple girl. I truly cannot imagine wearing something that expensive on my finger. It was awful pretty though. I wonder if I could find something similar, with CZ, for like $100's instead of $1000's.
I can't remember now what I got for my B-day. Chemo brain!
BH and I do enjoy traveling. We travel well. Neither of us gets stressed out about it. I travel light when I can. I can (and do) pack up the day before, even the day of leaving. We've been together about 2 years. Marriage? I don't know. We talk about it, we'd like to, but we're not in a hurry. We both have grown families. You know, it's different the second time around. I have been through a lot with the cancer. I am just now understanding what that has done to me. I'm still recovering from the chemo, nasty shit! Avoid this if possible. I will say that I am thankful for all that I've been through. I get to live, it was all worth it.

WOw! YOu really scored some great things at that Craft swap. And that is a great idea. I love your birdhouses! The wisteria on the front is so pretty. I bet everybody thought that was the best craft there. That and those handpainted cards.
I love that idea - I may just have to borrow it sometime! I'm sure my mother has some plates that match the vintage one you got.
What do you mean marriage is different the second time around. I cant wait to get married the second time around. This time I am smarter and older and know what I want. I know what love is. I think everyone when they are young think they are in love and get married when they shouldnt. They are all to young. Are you living together (if I may ask)That would make a difference I think to some. You would be living as husband and wife and really arent. Why get married some would say. You just dont have the papers. We arent living together and I want to wake up next to my boyfriend everyday!!!!
Those are really neat crafts you got!!! Love your pictures.
