HOW HOT IS IT?
It's so hot that when we stop for lunch the car temperature reaches broil.
It's so hot that the door handles have burned my hands and caused blisters.
It's so hot that I nearly fainted. In the car. On the way back to work. I begged BH to hurry to get into work so I could climb in the freezer for a few minutes.
After 10 minutes of ice therapy I finally got a grip.
For the next 2 days the minute I felt a little heat I started to get sick again.
This little petunia is wilting.
When is fall again? That long?
Mercy!!!
"You know, I died once."

How hot is it?
It's so hot that the fish died in our little lake.
aka around here as fish kill or stinky lake.
Yes it does smell but that has not deterred the locals from fishing.
ick

Retched Heat Wave
We are having a heat wave. While this should not be news flash for anyone in SoCal it has been going on for 19 days straight I think.
Saturday we got a bunch of thunder and lightening. Very nice show. It was brutally hot and excessively humid. The only way this could get worse is if the A/C broke. It didn't but the electricity went out. Same difference. It went out about 4pm. By 4:20 we were at the movies. We saw Lady in the Water. M Night movie. While it was not awful, is was not awful. That is really the nicest thing I can say about it. Rent it if you must but wasn't worth the big screen as far as I'm concerned.
So we get home, still no power. We had some torrential rains and very heavy thunder/lightening and it cooled off some. Not enough. By 10:00 am Sunday we had decided that we could not spend another night. We went to our local Casino/hotel. We sat in the bar and watched the Nascar race. I am not a huge race fan, not even a little race fan but I had a great time and a few beers. After that we crashed in the hotel.
Now our little hotel was quite an adventure. As I lay there looking at the brick walls I said, "You know, I think this is the ugliest hotel we've ever stayed in." BH agreed. It was clean and the air worked, at least better than nothing, but ugly. Please. I must share with you.
Behold the bed.
Not awful. There is this quaint palm tree decor going on. Even in the hall the carpet has these palm trees. Not so bad.

close up of trees. See, not so bad.

This little gem was our blanket. It is bright blue and matches nothing. Not ugly in and of itself. Just didn't fit.

Table. Just a table. Observe the walls. Brick. No pictures.

Dresser. Plain. Again no pictures.

There was one picture. This is it. Doesn't match anything. On a brick wall.

Lovely brick wall. Just lovely.

This is the grand finale. I really didn't notice it until late Saturday. The bathroom is dark and we stayed in the casino most of the day. But Saturday night, after a few beers I was greeted with this. This is, well, describable. It is even more intense in person.

It was clean, cool, and we had tv and that nifty bottle opener there in the bathroom. What more do you need? All rooms look the same when you are sleeping. Right?
