Easter pics

Did I mention that I was cooking Moroccan for Easter? I worked so hard on it all and then took one lousy picture.
7 jewel couscous
These are just the jewels. The couscous wasn't made yet.
I would very much like to take the time to make interesting pictures.

We had turkey. A nice sized Tom that I've had since Christmas. Brined that bad boy and rubbed Garam Masala, cumin, ground coriander, a touch of cinnamon and salt all over him. Stuffed him with some cut up lemons and onions. This was cooked the day before, sliced and the carcass dumped in the soup pot for some killer soup later in the week. I'm obsessing over soup these days.

I made 2 salads. One was a eggplant based salad which is my absolute favorite. If it wasn't so time consuming I'd make it more often. As it is, way to much trouble for dinner. I should have taken pictures of this eggplant thing. It it enormously ugly. No, seriously! I didn't make a huge batch of it because I didn't think anyone would touch it. It was gone in minutes and everyone raved about it. And they were ALL surprised that it was eggplant. I wonder if I could can this.

The other salad was a carrot type salad seasoned with cinnamon, cumin and sweetened with sugar (date sugar if you have it and I do) you can add some chopped dates to it. It tasted good but wasn't so popular.

I found a wonderful mid-east market in OC and picked up fresh spices. Turmeric, Garam Masala, cumin, coriander and cardomom. They also had bakery fresh pita breads for under a buck. These breads, if you ever buy them, are $3-4 at the super market.

You serve these salads with warmed pitas.

Watching his grandbabies hunt for eggs.
READY? SET. . GO!!!!!
And they're off to find the eggs, carefully hidden by these goons.
Go little chickies, find all those eggies.Magoo on a mission
Hurry hurry hurry!Hidden maybe a little too carefully Oh, I didn't think about them climbing around in my flower beds.

Yes that is the gnomes dog taking a dump in the front yard where children are hunting for candy.
Boy Gnome checking out his goodies
Magoo, checking out her goodies.Isn't she a doll? With those adorable glasses. I just want to smooch her!
And I do!!

Grandma and Charlie sitting on the couch watching the kids.
Oh look! My cat quilt is on the couch. I forgot about that. I've had it back from the quilters for a couple of months now. It's really cool. I'll have to show y'all some better pictures.

Playing Uno with the family.
Have you played Uno in awhile?
It's age friendly.
You can play with a lot of people.
More fun than a barrel of Monkee's.
No wonder he's not winning.
Awwe! Man and his dawg. He loves the little Maya B.
She do have him wraped around her furry paw.

And THAT, was Easter!

Chocolate Easter Bunnies

Just think about THIS while you are enjoying your Easter candy.

I had a great Easter. First we drove to Arizona Thursday. The air in our truck was out and wouldn't you know it was 100 degrees in the desert. AND I thought that it might be cold in Phoenix so I brought 2 sweaters and a heavy jacket. What was I thinking! It didn't rain but it did cool off some thankfully and Easter was sunny and beautiful.

These are the baskets that I made up for my boys. Notice the cute pug socks! They are for my youngest son that I have now discovered wears a size 14 shoe. Whew! I told him I didn't know his feet where that big and they may not fit. Not to worry, he said, they stretch, I'll make them fit. The pink peeps are for my strange middle son that loves pink. Go figure. No, he's not gay, not that there's anything wrong with that, he just loves pink.

See the adorable bunny purse? I stuffed it full of candy for my middle son's girlfriend. See, I told you he wasn't gay. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Here are some pics of my beloved sons.

#1 Son Jeffrey

#2 son Sleepy Dave. Yes those are earings. Two of them in each ear. No, he's not gay! Not that there's anything wrong with that.

#3 son Handsome Mike. Official owner of Frank the pug and size 14 feet.

Would it kill you to smile son?

I made these up for my Big Hunks grandkids. There were 2 more baskets and a cute little purse as well but I forgot to take pictures of them before I sent them off. The bunny and chick are hand puppets. I also put Crabby Patties in there with Reeses cups and malt eggs. Oh and poppers. Have you ever seen poppers? They are these little pieces of paper with gunpowder in them. You throw them on the ground and the pop like caps. Very very fun and very very annoying. I did warn the mommies that they were in there so they could monitor their use and not scare the life out of parents, neighbors, animals etc.

Easter Bonnet

Isn't she the most precious thing? I know pugs and this pug is adorable. She sure thinks that she is all that and a bag of chips. Doesn't matter. I would take her in a heartbeat.

And another OH MY GOSH, I'M ON ANOTHER LINK! WOW! Another blog that I read every day is Pug Possessed. SHE has me as a link as well. I am overwhelmed. This gal makes the most adorable outfits for her pugs. If SHE thinks that I am all that and a bag of chips maybe she will shift a pattern or two my way. SOMEDAY I will have a pug girlie in need, yes need, of an outfit.

On another note I sort of have a kitty.

I'm on a Link! ! !

Ok, not a pug but way cute for Easter.

OH MY GOSH! Someone has MY blog as a link on her blog. That is in and of itself a terrific thing but the very best part is that this is my favorite blog. This is the first blog I've ever read and the only one I read for some time.

If that wern't amazing enough I didn't know anyone was reading my blog. I invited Alfreds mom to read my 100 things and dog gone it she told me she was already reading my blog and then she listed me in her links. Is that too awesome? Well I think it is.

You absolutly must go visit this blog. It is Alfreds mom and she is the first blog listed in my links column. She is a very adorable new mom to be. (I remember being that and doing that) She also fosters pugs that are awaiting adoption. That is an amazing thing. I did that for some time. Not with pugs specifically, but with dogs in general. Not with an organization mind you. Everyone that knows me just brought their dogs to me and I found homes for them. I did this with rats as well. Not just any rats, fancy rats that had outgrown their homes for some reason. Maybe that is boring for your or freightening if you happen to hate rats. But I loved them and had many rats for a lot of years. I also raised baby possums or opossums technically until they were ready for release.

I thank you Alfreds mom. You are so cool in many, many ways.

I went shooting!

Not a pug, not even a dog. Still, nothing says spring like a cute little chick.

I went shooting this weekend and loved it, loved it, loved it. I fired 3 handguns and 4 rifles, I think. There were so many guns that I just lost count.

My favorite gun to shoot was the .45 Beretta. It was smooth and easy. The problem is that it is ugly, heavy and the trigger is easy to pull, too easy.

My second favorite is the .37 Magnum Smith and Wesson. It is cute, light and has a hard trigger to pull. That means it wont go off accidently. The problem is that it has a nasty little jerk that hurts my hand.

How'd I do? Not bad for a chick. I hit the bullseye once and got several rounds in the inner circle. I'd love to go again if I ever get a chance.
Here is my Big Hunk!
