I'm so happy! I'm so depressed. . I'm so happy!

I'm so happy!!!

I got my hair done yesterday! Woohoo!

I enjoy getting my hair done. I get a chance to visit with my sister in law. Then I visit my folks.
It's a little darker than I usually have it. Also, I like it fluffier.

I'm so depressed. . . .

Did you know that Wally World is discontinuing their fabric department? Did you? And reducing their craft isles? Did you know that too?

I buy much of my quilting fabric and supplies at Wally World. The prices are great and they have a decent selection of fabrics. I can usually find something to work with there. Discontinuing the fabrics means that I have to travel 35 minutes to the nearest Joannes. It means if I run out of muslin or batting it could take me 2 hours to get back to my project. It also means I wont be feeding my stash buckets as often as I normally do. It means. . . well, it means I need to plan these things out a lot better.

I'm so happy!

I remembered that The Calico House is in the same center as my hair salon! That means I'll be cruising a quality quilt shop once a month or so. Ok, so things are looking up.

What do you think?
This is a vintage quilt. It was given to me, in a plastic shopping bag. Each square is hand pieced. The owner's mother made this with shirts and aprons and worn dresses. HAND PIECED! It's magnificent. It's meticulously pieced with perfect spaced stitches and every angle is perfect. This is not an easy square.

I brought it with me to the quilt store. I wanted to get some border fabric that would match. I figured this was 50's fabric and most quilt stores have replicas. I was told this fabric is probably 30's and 40's fabrics. I found 2 complimentary fabrics that will be perfect. So I'm washing the fabs now and will hopefully cut and sew up my borders tomorrow.

And then I'll need to get batting and backing. Hopefully Wally will still have some or It'll be awhile before I sandwich this darlin.
