Still smoldering

These mountains are on the otherside of the lake. Very near. Very smoky.

Unless you are Amish you have probably heard that Southern California is on fire. And it was pretty bad. It's the worst set of fires I can remember. They never got within city limits so I never felt the need to pack up animals and head out of town. To where I don't know, everyone I know is within some fire range.

It's made for some very lousy air but very beautiful skies.

Just prior to all the fires was the Santa Ana's. The Santa Ana winds are unique to So Cal, they are hot dry winds. I love windy days especially the Santa Ana's but this time they were about hurricane force. We had quite a bit of damage due to the winds. One of our outside tables was broken to bits. Several trees on our friends property fell braking fences and landing in a pool. Large established trees that you would never guess could just come out of the ground like that.

There is still a Orange County ridge that is still ablaze but most of the fires are contained or near containment.

This weekend we had a visit from a large Canadian bird.
This plane is filling up with water to spray on the fires. I'm not sure how it gets the water in the plane. I've got to look that up. Someone said it just scoops it up but I think it fills up in this position. It lands and then hangs around for a little while then takes off.
It was interesting seeing this huge plane in our little lake. Maya B hates to have her picture taken. I'll catch her doing something cute and when she see the camera pointed at her she stops doing what ever it is and I can't get a good picture of her. Right now I am trying to catch her doin the nasty with the ball. This is her ball. She loves her ball, REALLY LOVES her ball. But she is also embarrassed about it. If you look at her she'll stop and get off. I try to ignore her and sneak up for a picture. But she always catches me first.

OK folks! NaBloPoBo is almost upon us. Three days! Three days away. Are you'all ready? Who's doing it? Anyone going with a theme?

I am. I'll share later.

I am glad you and yours are safe... I was going to do NaBloPoMo, even signed up, but I'm bailing out on it. Too much pressure, and I just don't have that much to say. I know I would end up flaking, so I figure I'll just flake out in advance...

I know what you mean. It's a lot of unnecessary pressure. I enjoy it, the challenge of it. But I also don't have little ones anymore. I wouldn't even think about it if my kids were that young.

I'll read you anyway.
