Bobby Sherman, The Monkees and the Temecula Rod Run

Every year Temecula has a Rod Run. This is where every old restored (sometimes not) cars come to show off. There are some unusual things there like this
This is a Mini Cooper. My all time favorite car. Mine however will be red. All red. Maybe a white roof. Maybe not. Whatever. This is a Mini limo. I couldn't get a decent shot of all of it at once without people walking in front. Anyway this is the front half.

This is the middle. It has a spa in the middle. I wonder about so much water in a moving car. Does it splash out? Will that much water in the middle of a car be too heavy and then the middle drops out? And where are you going in a wet bathing suit? I have questions. They keep me up at night. This is the other end of the Mini limo. This car really works and I guess it doesn't matter which end you drive. Do you need two drivers? Again, I have questions.
This little sign was beside the Mini Limo. I'm glad the pic turned out because I thought it was hysterical.

Danger!
Health Hazard!
Touching, leaning or standing on this car may cause the following symptoms.
Profuse bleeding of the face
fat lips
loss of teeth
swelling of the face and head
possible broken limps
Thank you for your consideration.

And next is
Bobby Sherman!

Yes the Bobby Sherman! If you don't remember him Google it. He was the teen heartthrob of the 70's. Although I was a David Cassidy fan I still remember my girlfriends being gaga over him.

Well guess where teen hearthrobs go to retire? The police force! Crazy huh! He is actually on the LAPD but here he is dressed in a San Bernadino County uniform and Temecula is in Riverside County. Figure that one out if you care.
He had a 'handler', some lady talking to the crowd to get pictures with Bobby. Nobody really wanted to. I did. You know, how many chances do you get to take a pic with a teen hearthrob in uniform?
Hey hey it's the Monkees!
After all the walking around we went to the local watering hole called the Stampede! This is a very fun place. Lots of cowboys. They have a mechanical bull, pool tables and a huge dance floor where they teach line dancing before the weekend bands come in.

Today they had a copy band that played the Monkees music. All of it. I loved it. In this shot they had just come out and did 'the walk'. If you haven't seen the show it's sort of like trucking, if you don't know what that is forget it. More or less they hook their arms together and swing one leg out and to the side in unison. I couldn't catch it soon enough, all you get is the back of them.
They had go go dancers on each side.
You can see 'Peters' cap that he always wore.
And the little blond lady with her arm around her husband, she was VERY into the Monkees. And the margaritas. Danced her ass off. Hubby is there to help her back to her seat if not her senses.
