Oh my! That's so sad! (hehehe)

I already know this is terrible but it struck me as so funny that I still giggle about it.

I call my folks yesterday. I talk to mom for like 15 minutes. You know, how you feeling, we just got back from walking the dog and now we're going out to eat. Here's your dad.

Conversation with dad runs about the same. How you feeling, I gotta renew my passport, and then he asks if I've talked to my brother.

This is seldom good.

me: What happened?

dad: Well his roommate died.

me: He doesn't have a roommate.

dad: Well it's someone he's known for a long time and worked with. He went to wake him and found him dead.

me: So he died on his couch?

dad: Yes.

me: Oh. So what happened?

dad: I don't know, your mother talked to him.

So I'm talking to my parents for almost an hour before they tell me my brothers found a dead guy on his couch. Shouldn't this be something you want to start with? Shouldn't this be NEWS?

I gotta find out more about this.

I call my brother.

My nephew answers. Oh yeah, found him dead, on the couch, happened last Monday. And they sealed off the apartment for 2 hours investigating. This bothered my nephew who I hope had enough sense to hide anything controversial before the cops got there.

My brother later explained that he did have this man living with him since Christmas. He had multiple health problems including a bad ticker. He died on his 50th birthday.

My brother said it was just a matter of time. He'd been very ill.

It's sad.

It's still funny.

I think he'd appreciate that.
