Hair! Long as God can grow it my Hair!

Gimme head with hair
Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there hair
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy daddy

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair

Remember this old song? I love this song!

I sing it every day.

Why? I'm bald! I know but it's funny!

I've never been a hair person. I fix it in the morning (and I've been known to forget to fix it) and don't fuss with it the rest of the day. I have never carried a comb in my purse. I have also mentioned on more than one occasion that if I could get away with it I'd shave my head and run around bald.

Now I can and do. I can cross that off my list of things to do before I die.

Losing the hair was the worst part. At first it came out in patches, more hair than holes. Then the holes got bigger and bigger. They formed wierd patterns and eventually connected. For a time I had little strips of hair here and there. They looked like leeches stuck on my head. Twice a day I worked to rid myself of all loose hair. Finally what was left was a few longish strands that refused to budge. They formed a creepy webbing all over my head. It was time to bic it. I will say that using a razor on your head is not easy. With the coumeden I worried about cutting myself and bleeding. I managed to remove all fine hairs from the front and top of my head but I still have that creepy fuzz in the back where I can't see to shave. I can't see it so I don't mind it so much. I also discovered a strawberry birthmark on the back of my head. I never knew that was there!

Bald. Not so bad. I still use shampoo to wash my head. Without hair it does run in your eyes faster. Dry the head, slap a hat on and go. Easy, peasy, japaneasy. I got bangs for when I go out. It has a velcro strip that you can attach to your hat. I decided to tuck it under the cap instead and that works just fine. I still have eyebrows and eyelashes. They are getting thin but still there and workable. Since it's winter and reasonably cold a knit cap does the trick and is not so noticible. When the weather warms I'll have to get more creative. Or not. I just may run around bald!

Bless you child!

There are times at home or in the car that I pop the cap off and let it cool off. We will have many warm days before my hair comes back. I'm sure I'll run around with a naked head more often. I think about the shock effect it has on others more than what I think. It is disturbing to see a bald woman.
