Laughin at Laughlin

We had an amazing time at the river. The weather was clear and hot. It was over 100 during the day.
This is the view from our hotel room. It was not the prettiest view of the river but I preferred it over the parking lot. You can't see it from this angle but there is an airport to the left. We would occasionally see small airplanes land and take off.

We went with some friends Trina and Dan. They have this cool jetski. It is a 3 seater and quite big.

This is Trina and a riverboat tour in the back. At this part of the Colorado river the water moves quickly and it was choppy most of the time.

This is the dock. Between the dock and the shore we stored the jetski while we hung out and enjoyed the scenery.

This is BH on the jetski. Notice how he is alone on the jetski. That is because I was only on the jetski once with him and for only a short time. Very short time. I got on the back from the dock (see above pic) and as we turned around to go down the river, he dumps us into the river. This is not an easy thing to do. It's like a giant Weeble. You really have to be gifted to dump this thing. GH is very gifted. As we turn I feel the jetski start to lean and lean and lean. I am trying to shift all my weight to my right so as to stay on. No use. I see BH disappear into the water. I am close behind. I have issues with water from way back and I completely panic. I grab my floating shoe, shove it onto the jetski and madly swim for the dock which I could touch only seconds before. I quickly realize that the swift currant will not allow me this luxury and I have no other option but to swim to the damn jetski AND GET BACK ON. I finally manage to get my shaking self on the thing. It is then that I noticed I have lost my sunglasses, expensive sunglasses, into the river. I was so worried about my .99 cent flippies not realizing I had lost my $150.00 Maui Jims in the river. BH gets on and I insist on going back S L O W L Y. I repeat, SLOWLY! And the jetski wobbles the whole way back. SLOWLY!

BH version of the story? I got drunk and leaned wrong and dumped us both in the river.

Rebuttal: I weigh half as much as he does. Even if I was drunk, which I wasn't, yet, who do you think is capable of dunking who? Besides, I have witnesses. They back me up.

I did manage to go for a long ride with Trina and had such a great time. I'd love to do it again, with Trina, or by my self.

After that we went up to the room and the boys played a couple of games of chess.

We were bored and played with the camera.

No we didn't go to the Loser's Lounge. But I do hear it is a hoppin place.

We went to Joe's Crab Shack. We had a great time and a few drinks. I'm a little lit here. Just a little. I didn't fall down or throw up and didn't wake up with a hangover. All is good.

BH doesn't drink much, which is good because he had to drive.

Trina and Dan at Joe's. They are just as lit as I am. Trina drank Sex on the Beach. Good stuff, I'd never had one before and even though I liked it I don't know if I could walk up to the bartender and ask for one.

In animal news:

We got back from our Laughlin trip and found Tom, ready? in his box. He did not escape, he did not wander about the house whilst we were away, he was, sleeping peacefully in his own box. It is getting that time of year where they pack it up for the winter. Although when we have a stretch of warm winter weather, Tom thinks it's ok to wake up. Mo is much more sensible. She will sleep till Easter. Good girl!

Also comming back from Luaghlin I came home to discover a bunny in the trap. Now be nice. I have not set the trap in weeks. There was no food in it at all. So there he was. Looking very pittiful. His nose had a huge stripe of missing hair where he had tried to get himself out of the cage. When I opened it up, he refused to get out. So I tipped it and he rolled out. Not good. Bunny does not look good. Who knows how long he'd been in the trap. We got him some water and he ate some grass. After about 15 minutes he hopped off to never never land. I think he'll make it.

And then. . . . I get in my car Monday. I am waiting in this extraordinarily long light. I am not so silently cussing at the light. (not to worry, no one is in the car with me) And I see, is it, oh my goodness, it is a MOUSE! It is running along the outside of my windshield by the wipers, back and forth. Then it goes under the hood. I have a mouse under the hood of my car! I HAVE A MOUSE UNDER THE HOOD OF MY CAR! After it disappears under the hood I fear it may make its way into the cab. Now I love rodents of every persuasion but the wild kind can be very destructive to the inners of a car. Not to mention scaring the bejesus out of me while I try to drive within the lines.

I am only minutes from my work so as soon as I pull up I quickly lift the hood and check to see if I can see it. Nope. But I do see poopies. I've been gone all weekend so the little bugger has prob been there all weekend setting up house. I tell BH, there is a mouse under my hood. He gets a little can of air, you know, the air that you use to blast dust from your comp, and blasts my engine. (my car engine, it's in the parking lot, nothing funny going on) We see nothing. I dust off every poopie I can see so that I can tell if the darn thing is still in there. I'll be checking every day for poopies.

Looks like a really fun weekend you had!! Fun in the sun and on the river. I have issues, too, with water that I can't see what's in it. That would have really scared me, too. I hate you lost those nice sun glasses. I often wonder what's below the water in places that would be nice to have!!
I didn't realize Tom and the other turtle would sleep for a long time. Do they really sleep the entire winter or does sleep come and go? Do they have to go potty or eat during that time? You sure have a lot of wildlife and things around your house...never a dull moment!

They are in bed by Halloween and up by Easter. They do not eat and rarely potty during the winter. Tom will smell a warm day and move around a little but we don't let him up. I'll have to share my goodnight ritual soon. It's getting time to put them to bed.

OH, that is so interesting. I'd be happy to hear what your ritual is.

Eeek, a mouse in your car! I had a spider hanging from my console a few weeks ago and I pulled the van over, hopped out, and wouldn't get back in until my kids killed it for me.
